Remembering W. Augustus Cheatham
With a heavy heart, Pine Forge Academy and its supporters remember Wilbert Augustus Cheatham, former Principal of the Academy, who passed away this week. Elder Cheatham is remembered as a man of honor and integrity, under his leadership the Academy saw remarkable growth.
As shared by our Alumni Association:
From 1982 to 1985, Mr. Cheatham served as principal and business manager of Pine Forge Academy. During those years, the enrollment increased from 110 to 285. A new campus church was constructed, funds were raised for a new gymnasium, an extensive campus beautification project was initiated, and the academic accreditation was renewed.
Mr. Cheatham held many prestigious positions and has a long list of accomplishments and awards. Today we honor the husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, leader and man of God, “Gus”, as he was affectionately called by all who knew and loved him.
We pray for peace and comfort to the family and all those who are touched by this great loss.
