Khandi Cooper

A native of Brooklyn, New York, Khandi Cooper serves as Chair of the Science Department along with teaching the following courses Chemistry, Physical Science, Advanced Placement Chemistry and the co-sponsor of the class of 2021. She graduated in 2009 from AdventHealth University of Health Sciences (formerly Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences) in Orlando, Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science. In 2016 she completed her Masters of Education in Curriculum & Instruction with a concentration in S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) from Concordia University-Portland. Currently, she is a Doctoral candidate for the Doctor of Education program at Concordia University-Portland with a specialization in Administrative Leadership.

Prior to coming to Pine Forge Academy, Khandi served as multi-grade (sixth through eighth) teacher at Elim Junior Academy in St. Petersburg, FL. Her students competed in the Adventist Robotics League in Collegedale, TN and received 3rd place in Core Values and the “Rising Star Award.” Khandi is active in youth ministries, she served as M.C. Strachan Youth Federation Secretary, Masterguide, Adventurers Club Director and Bible Bowl Coach in Southeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (Florida).

She is the recipient of the 2018-2019 ACS-Hach Chemistry Classroom grant which fund her travel to the 25th Bi-ennial Conference on Chemistry Education. She has received the distinction as “Teacher of the Year” for Haines City, Florida private schools presented by the Polk County Chamber of Commerce. Since 2018 Khandi has been a member of the American Chemical Society, American Association of Chemistry Teachers and the National Science Teaching Association. Also, she is the Tournament Director of the Mid-Atlantic Region of the Adventist Robotics League.
